From Paralyzed to Pampered: The Inspirational Journey of a Street Dog in the USA

Lakshmi, formerly known as ‘Lucky,’ is one such remarkable being who defied the odds and found her place in the world despite her physical limitations. Residing in our sanctuary in India, Lakshmi’s journey from a paralyzed stray to discovering a forever home is an inspiring tale of hope, compassion, and the power of second chances.

From Tragedy to Hope:

Lakshmi’s story began on the harsh streets of India, where she struggled to survive as a disabled stray dog. Her hind legs were paralyzed, leaving her vulnerable and dependent on the kindness of strangers for survival. Despite her challenges, Lakshmi’s spirit remained unbroken, and her will to live touched the hearts of those who encountered her.

Discovering Sanctuary:

Fortunately, Lakshmi’s path crossed with our sanctuary, a safe haven for animals in need. Our dedicated team of caregivers welcomed her with open arms, recognizing her indomitable spirit and understanding that every life deserves a chance. They provided her with the care, love, and rehabilitation she desperately needed, ensuring she received the best possible treatment and attention.

A Chance Encounter:

But the most extraordinary twist in Lakshmi’s journey was yet to come. A kind-hearted couple crossed paths with Lakshmi in an Instagram post. Immediately captivated couple Malini and Craig felt an instant connection and realized they had found their furry soulmate. They have touched our hearts with their kindness to Lakshmi, formerly known as Lucky – an Indian street pup that the world had given up on. But the loving couple opened their home – especially asking for a handicapped animal in need of a forever home. Miraculously they welcomed Lakshmi into their lives.

A Forever Home:

This day we thank Malini and Craig Shires in Salt Lake city, UT who don’t seek any praise or acknowledgment. Craig and Malini have dedicated their lives to caring for their pets, which became especially apparent when they gave a home to two special needs pups from India and Thailand.

A Life Transformed:

After living as a paralyzed street dog in India, Lakshmi now enjoys the comforts of an American couch. Malini and Craig Shires are the amazing people that made this possible – they are responsible for providing their 4 dogs and 2 cats with wonderful lives.

Lakshmi goes on an exciting RV road trip once a year from Salt Lake City to Canada. During her travels, she and her companions Addi, Chutney. This was a new and exciting adventure for her since she spent most of her life confined to the four walls of a sanctuary. Lakshmi is grateful for the opportunity to explore and enjoy the beauty of nature, and she looks forward to more adventures on her road trip. Thank you, Malini and Craig.
